The main points:
- The CWSA will not be affiliated with Fineline and Centurion Boats for the 2023 Season.
- The CWSA will present a full competitive season, including an end of season Championship event.
- All CWSA sanctioned events will be listed on the CWSA website. If the event is not listed on the website, it is not CWSA sanctioned, and does not qualify for WRS ranking points.
The CWSA Board of Directors has not been successful in reaching a contractual agreement with Fineline and Centurion Boats for the 2023 competitive season that is consistent with the Mission and Purpose of the CWSA, to develop and promote the sport of wake surfing worldwide.
The decision to end the decade long relationship with Fineline was not taken lightly. The Board felt it was the only appropriate course of action as the sport continues to grow worldwide, which requires that the CWSA execute its mission and purpose in an independent manner to maintain fair, unbiased, and safe competition practices worldwide.
The Board sincerely appreciates Fineline and Centurion Boats support for the CWSA and the sport over the past decade.
Things that will remain the same:
The CWSA will continue to sanction and support event organizers to present Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze level wake surfing events.
CWSA sanctioned events will continue to use the published competition rules and judging forms, including the CWSA DIVE judging system.
Every competing athlete will earn world ranking points through the CWSA World Ranking System (WRS) at CWSA sanctioned events.
The CWSA will continue to update and display the World Ranking List (WRL) which can be used for running order seeding and event invitations.
What is new:
The CWSA understands the need for better more timely communications with our member athletes. We have a plan to make that happen and you will begin to see those communications very soon.
Lastly, we are excited about the upcoming 2023 competition season!
You will be able to enjoy participation in number of regular season events in live venues around the world, leading to an exciting post season of competition ending in Continental Championship events and the season ending Championship.
