What a great season so far, and Worlds is just around the corner!
The World Wake Surfing Championship is precisely that, a worldwide event. Competitors from nearly 40 countries in all skill levels have been working hard and competing all year for an opportunity to be invited to and compete in the most prestigious wake surfing event on the planet.
As announced last fall, the unique hybrid module and live event format will allow all qualifying athletes worldwide the opportunity to compete in this event. Despite the uncertainty and constantly changing travel restrictions that caused the postponement and cancelation of so many sporting events worldwide in the past eighteen months, Worlds will still happen.
This is consistent with the commitment of both Centurion Boats and the CWSA to make this 25th World Wake Surfing Championship the world’s premier wake surfing event. This prestigious event will feature the best wake surfing athletes from all over the world, despite the various challenges.
You may have noticed, the event page on the CWSA website has been updated with the World’s live venue information at Lake Conroe, in Montgomery, Texas.
So how will Worlds happen with the continuing COVID uncertainty?
Who will compete at Lake Conroe?
All Pro divisions and the Junior division will compete at the Lake Conroe Texas venue October 7th thru October 9th, 2021.
Pro and Junior competitors who cannot travel to the U.S. due to travel restrictions (cannot enter U.S. due to Covid restrictions and/or entry or return to country-of-origin quarantine requirements, lack of U.S. visa services in various countries, etc.) will compete at modules in their home country.
The designated module runs, for the Pros and Junior skill levels, will be judged at the same time and in the same manner as the live venue competitors.
When Should I Arrive at the Live venue?
If you are competing at the live venue, please arrive at the venue on October 6th.
• 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm athlete check in
• 4:00 pm all riders meeting followed by judge meeting
• 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm meet and greet
The Worlds event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 am each day and end by 4:30 pm each day.
Awards are scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm on October 9th, the last day of the event, with a Texas style bar-b-que.
Who will compete at the Module venues?
All other skill levels (Amateurs, Masters, Outlaws) will compete via a module. Those competition runs will be broadcast at the Texas venue during the event. Those runs will be judged in the same manner as the five module format events that the CWSA has presented this season.
The Worlds module dates are September 16th-19th. The specific module locations will be announced no later than the time invitations are sent to all competitors who have qualified to be invited to Worlds this year.
When will Worlds Invitations be sent?
Consistent with the event announcement, the invitation process will begin on September 3, 2021. There will be up to 185 invitations sent for this event, therefore it will take several days for all invitations to be released. Please have patience with the process. Once your invitation has been received, you will have three days to register. Otherwise, your invitation will be forfeited, and may be offered to the next qualified competitor.
If you have a question as to whether you have been invited, first check the event announcement to make sure you have satisfied all qualification criteria. If so, check your athlete profile to see if there is a waitlist invitation for the event before sending us an email. Please do not send us an email asking whether you have been invited before September 6th.
