Travel restrictions and the World Wake Surfing Championship The CWSA and Centurion Boats are both committed to the safety of our athletes, staff, spectators and family members. At this time, it is extremely unlikely that athletes will be allowed to travel to Fort Worth, Texas from outside of the United States, or if permitted, may be subject to a two week quarantine period when returning to their country of origin. The CWSA and Centurion Boats are both committed to the World Wake Surfing Championship being a true ‘World’ event. The CWSA and Centurion Boats are both committed to a level playing field for all athletes at all skill levels in every country to have a fair opportunity to qualify and compete at the original, one and only Centurion Boats World Wake Surfing Championship. While this competitive year is a challenge, the CWSA and Centurion Boats both continue the tradition of innovation. Just like the innovation that Centurion Boats first exhibited over a quarter century ago by its singlehanded development of the sport of wakesurfing that we are all are so passionate about. Even though we cannot be together for Worlds at a single event venue, we can be together, and compete against each other in this innovative hybrid video and live competition format. Here’s how it will work. Each qualifying region will have an Event venue module. CWSA Head Judge at each venue module Head judge responsibilities include making sure that competition run length is identical between venue modules falls are properly counted for each competition run only permitted personnel in boat videos are properly sequenced Boat personnel will consist of driver, videographer, photographer, and the Head Judge All competition boats weighted identically with stock ballast Compliant competition course at each competition venue with start and end buoys Same competition boat at each venue module Video Identical camera angle set up each venue module Every competitor that qualifies and registers for Worlds will go to their assigned venue module on their assigned date and have the opportunity to compete in 3 runs: HEATS, LCQ and FINALS Run will be two 45 second passes, 1 pick up each pass (2 falls) First video filmed will be the HEATS run Second video filmed will be LCQ run Third video filmed will be FINALS run Second and third video will only be used if you progress to that round Judging There will be no judges on the competition boat at any venue module Video will be uploaded and judged by a single judge team per division, meaning the judge teams will be the same judge team across all competition venue modules for each individual division After filming, all video will be uploaded and will be rendered for production and broadcast, and simultaneously will be judged by the judge teams when all videos for their division have been received Broadcast of the competition will commence at 9AM CDT on October 1 for Preliminary Heats, October 2 for all LCQs, and October 3 for all Finals. Specific details for each region venue module will be posted as we approach the end of the 2020 competitive season. Stay tuned for more current information about wake surfing! – The CWSA P.S.
